CHANGES
- General
Added a MIDI Mapping Layout window which can be opened through the Help menu or from instrument right-click menus.
It is now possible to save your own Drum Kit presets.
Mixer-only presets in some older EZXs can now be loaded – a “Mixers” submenu has been added.
A splash screen is shown at startup of the standalone (to earlier show that something is happening). In a DAW, the same image is shown in the plug-in window the first time it is opened in a session (while the normal interface is being prepared to be shown).
The error dialog for when an audio file could not be read has been redesigned.
- Song Track
“Add Groove” has been renamed to “Add Standard Groove.”
A menu has been added to the right of the displayed time signature and tempo. The time signature and tempo editors can be opened from this menu.
In the tempo editor, it is now possible to multi-select nodes with cmd-click on Mac and ctrl-click on Windows, as well as with shift-click.
Duplicating a song track now uses a letter within parentheses instead of a number to distinguish the copy.
The progress dialog for exporting audio has been redesigned.
Audio export error messages have been improved.
When exporting stems, the filenames now contain the mixer channel names instead of channel numbers.
- Edit Play Style
The Options menu now contains the same Quantize submenu as the instrument right-click menus.
- Drum Tab
Specific articulations can now be previewed in the instrument selection view.
The Use Preset Stack menu has been modified to be easier to understand.
- Grooves Tab
Web Shop MIDI libraries are now separated by headers, so you can easily see if a library is from an EZX, an SDX or a MIDI pack.
- Grid Editor
It is now possible to mute or solo a range of instruments: press the mouse on a mute or solo button and drag over the other instruments.
- Mixer Tab
The scrollbars are slightly thicker now.
- bandmates
When a generated Bandmate groove is selected (as opposed to a groove taken from the Grooves tab), “Generated Groove” is written in parentheses on the drum groove block.
Moving audio or switching between All Notes and Tonal Notes now shows a progress indicator next to “Amount” while the MIDI is being generated.
When the Velocity and Swing knobs are working, an animation is shown.
- E-Drums/MIDI In
The “E-Drums” view has been renamed to “E-Drums/MIDI In.”
Added support for Bank Select and Program Change.
Added a setting for MIDI In Channel.
Added an option to the instrument menu to automatically select the played instrument.
Added an option to show notes and keys at the same time in the mapping view.
Changing the hi-hat pedal range now shows a “tooltip” with the value.
Editing the velocity curve now applies to all selected instruments.
The velocity editor is now disabled when its power button is off.
- Settings
“Restore MIDI Database” will now preserve user-added MIDI libraries and favorites (in libraries that are still available).
Standalone
The current project name (and on Mac the project file icon) is now shown in the title bar (unless no project has been saved or loaded).
Launching the standalone on Windows on a display with a scale other than 100% is now faster because the window uses the correct size and scale at once.
BUG FIXES
- General
On Windows, the VST 3 plug-in can now correctly be scaled by hosts in HiDPI mode and dragging, for example to the song track, should now work without any offsets.
On Windows, “Reset to Default Size and Scale” in the View menu did not always work as intended.
On Windows, if the host window was minimized and unminimized, the external windows (detached tabs) could in some cases pop up again, be blank and refuse to be closed.
Many menu options and shortcuts that should have been disabled whenever recording was active were not disabled.
Locating the sounds (the folder with EZXs and MIDI) at startup did not make the Grooves tab (and anything else needing the MIDI database) work.
If two notes with the same key overlap, the note off from the first note is no longer played, so that not both notes are stopped.
- Song Track
Stopping when count-in is active no longer rewinds the track.
Adding a new song track did not create it with the tempo and time signature of the current track.
- Edit Play Style
Adding hits with Amount on the Power Hand instrument and then moving the Power Hand sign to a different instrument would make the new Power Hand instrument play only the hits that were added with Amount, not the original hits.
Some of the quantize menu options did not quantize with correct note lengths/positions.
Various fixes for editing percussion instruments with Future Hit capabilities.
Clicking the on/off button on the tambourine or shaker pad in 6/8 did not work and made the Amount knob stop working too.
The Opening Hit and Power Hand signs were badly positioned for certain smaller instruments.
- Song Creator
Right-clicking a block on the song track and selecting “Use with Song Creator” would always search with the whole original block even if it had been resized or edited in other ways.
Modified velocities in the source groove were not honored by the Song Creator.
Saving an arrangement containing a custom song part could cause a crash.
- Drum Tab
Audio was not possible to drag from Cubase and Studio One to the audio drop zone in the instrument selection view.
The library menu in the instrument selection view was incorrectly positioned at scales other than 100%.
Clicking at certain places in the instrument selection view would incorrectly close it.
- Grooves Tab
In Groove Parts, previewing Sidestick did not play the correct snare articulation.
- Grid Editor
Certain grid editor changes were not preserved when a project was saved and loaded if changes had been made in Edit Play Style earlier.
Pasted notes were humanized although the Humanize setting was off.
Switching to the Pencil tool when notes were selected did not update the active Humanize style.
Various fixes and improvements for editing percussion instruments with Future Hit capabilities.
Changing an instrument (in the Drums tab) to one with a different number of articulations did not properly update the grid editor rows.
Zooming with mouse wheel did not work below the last instrument in the left part of the grid editor.
Clicking on a velocity bar would make tooltips in the velocity editor no longer work until the mouse was moved out from the velocity editor.
- Mixer Tab
Clicking overlapping toms shown in a mixer channel could trigger the wrong one.
Selecting multiple channels and MIDI-learning some control in them (for example the volume slider) would only highlight the control in one of the channels.
- bandmates
Several fixes and improvements to the internal algorithms used by the Bandmate.
The Bandmate view did not always get focus when MIDI or audio was dropped there.
A scrollbar would sometimes inadvertently appear below the source groove.
It was not possible to set a tempo with decimals.
Names and images of Amount knobs were not updated correctly in all cases when using certain EZXs.
The menus opened by menu buttons in Matching Grooves would appear too far down if the list had been scrolled down.
- E-Drums/MIDI In
Fixed hi-hat positional sensing in Roland TD-50X.
Fixes to cymbal choking in Pearl Mimic Pro, Alesis Strike and Alesis Strike Pro presets.
When there was no hi-hat pedal control in the selected e-drum preset, the calibration slider could become poorly positioned. It is now disabled with such presets.
The hi-hat transitions menu in e-drums is now disabled if the loaded EZX does not contain any hi-hat that is affected by that setting.
It was not possible to undo changes in the velocity editor.
In the velocity editor, it was possible to add nodes to the right of the rightmost node, resulting in invalid velocity curves.
- Standalone
On Windows, rescaling sometimes made the entire window grey/empty for a moment.
On Windows, the “Adjust Scale” dialog (shown when the main window was dragged to a display with a different scale) had several graphical issues that have been fixed.
